FRIDAY NIGHT BORDER CROSSING PODCAST SHOW 17

Friday Night Border Crossing

Friday Night Border Crossing This a weekly series that will showcase some fresh new music for you to discover.

Show #17:

-SOMA Reggae - Oasis

SOMA Reggae has been working hard from humble beginnings until now that they are the current flag bearers of the Tijuana Reggae Scene with a classic smooth roots style. They have been scoring some great reviews for their music, as well having the distinction of being invited as opening acts of latin reggae giants like Los Cafres and Gondwana.

-Rubydubs - Maryjane

The roots of the reggae music movement in Tijuana can be traced to 1991, when at El Rubi a group of young kids started a band that was called Cairo and later Babylon XX, as they started the fire. Around the middle of last decade, former members of these bands reunited under a new name Rubydubs and started again, celebrating a couple of weeks ago their 30 Anniversary show while releasing a new single, the ska-infused Maryjane.

- Revolucion Zebra - Que Culero Ser Tu

There a certain sound of Tijuana that just you feel that has the essence of what this city is and that sound was called El Sonido Fronterizo (the sound of the frontier). That has been changing with the times and Revolucion Zebra is at the forefront of it. With a touch of reggae/ska, some cumbia, some world beat, a lots of punk rock and put some street credibility and you have an unique and vibrant band.
